Connections in BEEM

Overview

Connections in BEEM define the configured links between your external data systems and the BEEM platform. Each connection specifies how BEEM authenticates with and extracts data from a source system. The Connections page serves as the central hub for managing all your data integrations.

Accessing Connections

Click Connections in the left sidebar to view all configured connections.

Connections Page Layout

The Connections page is organized into:

  • Filter panel (left side): Allows you to filter connections by type. It lists all connector types currently in use (e.g., DayForce, GoogleAds, Klaviyo, Maestro, Procore, Salesforce, Shopify, ZOHO, Google Sheets) plus an "All Connections" option.
  • Connection list (right side): Grouped by connector type, showing each connection's name, who added it, and its current status.

Creating a New Connection

  1. Click the New Connection button in the top-right corner.
  2. The Select Integration dialog opens, displaying all 748+ available source types.
  3. Search: Type in the search bar to find a specific connector.
  4. Browse by category: Click a category in the right panel (Human Resources, Engineering, Events, Finance, File, Function, Sales, Marketing, Support, Productivity, Database, Security, Free).
  5. Select the desired connector and follow the authentication and configuration steps.

Connection Details

Each connection entry shows:

  • Connection name: A user-defined label for the connection (e.g., "System G - Dayforce").
  • Connector ID: A unique identifier assigned to the connection.
  • Added by: The user who created the connection.
  • Status: Active or Paused indicator.

Managing Connections

Renaming a Connection

  1. Click the three-dot menu () next to the connection name.
  2. Select Rename.
  3. Enter the new name and confirm.

Pausing and Resuming Connections

  • Pausing: Stops data syncing for the connection. Useful when a source is under maintenance or no longer needed temporarily.
  • Resuming: Administrators can resume a paused connection from the Connections page.

When a connection is paused, a status badge (e.g., "Paused" in yellow) appears next to the connection entry, and a notice banner appears in the Datalake view.

Filtering and Searching

  • Search connections: Use the search bar in the filter panel to find specific connections by name.
  • Filter by connector type: Click on a specific connector type in the filter panel to show only those connections.

Best Practices

  • Use clear, descriptive naming conventions for connections (e.g., "System A - Maestro" or "ADS O365").
  • Regularly review connection statuses to ensure all expected data sources are actively syncing.
  • Pause unused connections to reduce DPU consumption.
