Connections: How to Connect Your Data Sources

Connections define the configured links between your external data systems and the BEEM platform. Each connection specifies how BEEM authenticates with and extracts data from a source system.

Step 1: Open the Connections Page
  1. Navigate to Connections in the left sidebar
  2. You will see all configured connections organized by type
  3. Use the filter panel on the left to filter by connector type
  4. Use the search bar to find connections by name
Step 2: Create a New Connection
  1. Click the New Connection button (top-right)
  2. The Select Integration dialog displays 750+ available source types
  3. Search for a specific connector or browse by category (Human Resources, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Support, Productivity, Database, Security, and more)
  4. Select a connector
Step 3: Complete Authentication
  1. Review the connector documentation displayed in the wizard
  2. Enter the required credentials (API keys, username/password, OAuth, etc.)
  3. Click Test to verify the connection works
  4. Click Confirm to deploy
Step 4: Verify Data Is Flowing
  1. Go to the Datalake in the left sidebar
  2. Find your new connection in the list
  3. Confirm that source tables are appearing after the initial sync completes
Step 5: Manage Existing Connections
  1. Find the connection in your list
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to it
  3. Choose an action:
  • Rename: Enter a new name and confirm
  • Pause: Halts data syncing (useful during maintenance or to reduce DPU consumption)
  • Resume: Restart a paused connection
  • Delete: Remove a connection no longer needed
Connection Details

Each connection entry displays:

  • Connection name (user-defined label)
  • Connector ID (unique identifier)
  • Added by (creator)
  • Status: Active, Paused, or Failed
Connection Types
  • Fivetran-managed connectors: The majority of 750+ connectors, maintained and updated automatically
  • Native connectors: Built by the BEEM team for specific integrations
  • Custom API connectors: Built on request for systems without a standard connector
Best Practices
  • Apply descriptive naming conventions (e.g., "Client Name - System Type")
  • Regularly review connection statuses
  • Pause unused connections to reduce DPU consumption
  • Only Organization Admin users can create and manage connections
  • Connections are organization-level, shared across all workspaces
