BI Tool Support: Connecting Power BI and Other Tools
BEEM integrates with business intelligence tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and others. Your datasets are stored in a cloud warehouse that BI tools can connect to directly.
Step 1: Get Your Warehouse Credentials
- Click Settings in the left sidebar (Organization Admin only)
- Go to the Credentials tab
- You will see your warehouse connection details: Host/Endpoint, Port, Database name, Username, Password (click to reveal or reset)
- Copy these credentials — you will need them in your BI tool
BEEM provides a PowerBI Gateway for secure connectivity:
- Download and install the Microsoft On-Premises Data Gateway on a machine with network access
- Configure the gateway with the warehouse credentials from Step 1
- In Power BI Desktop or Power BI Service, add a new data source
- Select Amazon Redshift as the connection type
- Enter the host, port, and database from your BEEM credentials
- Authenticate with your username and password
- Browse the available schemas and tables (your deployed datasets appear as views)
For tools like Tableau, Looker, or others:
- Use the same warehouse credentials from Step 1
- Select Amazon Redshift (or generic JDBC/ODBC) as the connector type
- Enter the connection details
- Your deployed datasets are available as database views
- In your BI tool, browse the available tables
- You should see your BEEM datasets listed as views
- Run a test query to confirm data flows correctly
- Set up scheduled refreshes in your BI tool if needed
- BEEM deploys datasets as views in your dedicated Redshift warehouse
- BI tools connect directly to this warehouse using standard database protocols
- Data stays within your dedicated cloud environment at all times
- The PowerBI Gateway is available on all pricing tiers (Essentials, Pro, Enterprise)
- Use a dedicated service account for BI tool connections
- Schedule BI tool refreshes after your BEEM dataset refresh times
- Contact your BEEM team if you need help configuring the gateway
